Permaculture landscape design for Phoenix yards
Observe, design, install, steward, harvest, iterate, regenerate. We help homeowners across Arizona turn a hot, dry yard into a food-bearing, water-secure, low-waste asset, whether you hire us to build it or do it yourself.
How it works
Our flagship offer, and the way most yards here have been transformed. One path in three phases: design, then the build, then the care that keeps it growing. Pick a phase to see its steps.
From a short call to a finished plan in your portal. The design is yours whether you hire us to build it or not.
A free virtual consultation
A few questions to confirm we are a fit for each other. If your goals match one of our regenerative landscaping packages, we move forward. If not, we refer you to a trusted local partner.
On-site and virtual design sessions
A visit to walk the property and imagine what is possible, then design reviews until the vision and the budget agree. Site visits cover Arizona and the neighboring states, and farther when the project covers the travel.

Your design, in your portal
A 2D site plan with your watershed, planting and irrigation, renderings on request, and build estimates for every piece of the work, so you can decide what to hire out and what to do yourself.
Once the design is final we help you budget, plan and manage the build, in phases you can pace. Licensed, bonded and insured.
Pre-project checklist and schedule
A deposit on the accepted estimate puts you on the schedule. You get a checklist for the weeks before groundbreaking, a timeline with milestones, and progress tracking in your portal.

The on-site transformation
One project at a time, a week to several weeks depending on scope. The work goes in the order that protects it: removals and drainage first, then tree care and irrigation, planting, hardscape, and rain harvesting last.
Walkthrough
We walk the finished yard with you: how the water moves, how the irrigation is scheduled, and what each plant needs in its first season. Then the first year of care begins.
We never simply leave you to care for the new system by yourself.
The first twelve months, included
We stick around while the system settles in, making sure it is healthy, growing and producing through its first year.

Biannual, quarterly or monthly checks
After that, as long as you like: soil tests, strategic pruning and disease prevention, irrigation checks and small repairs, gutter and tank cleaning, and cleanups. Pick the rhythm that fits the yard.
Surplus harvest, donated
Once your yields exceed your needs, we harvest and distribute the surplus through Homegrown Foods to expand food security across the Phoenix metro area. You receive a yearly tax deduction for it.
Financing and aid
We support home growers at every stage and size. If you need it, these are the options we may be able to connect you with. More on financing →
Low-interest options
Depending on your credit and what you qualify for: introductory-rate credit cards, or pay-in-4 plans from partners like Affirm.
Home equity lines of credit
Long terms with low payments, to spread the investment out as far as possible.
Low or no down payment
Many of the financing options start with nothing or very little down, so you can begin now and get the most return on the investment.
Mortgage refinance or add-ons
If your mortgage servicer allows it, we can work with them. If not, one of our brokers can find a better deal.
50/50 rolling raffle
A monthly donation enrolls you in our rolling raffle, where half of each month’s pot goes to a community member’s project.
Grant funding
If you have a big vision for feeding, teaching and healing your community, we can build a grant application around it and act as your fiscal sponsor.
Designs that became yards
Three Phoenix-area projects that started exactly this way: a call, a site visit, a design in the portal, then the build.

Sheila H., Scottsdale
Read the case study →Drainage problems around the foundation became a watershed plan: stormwater redirected to a future tank and to basins around mulberry, grapefruit, lemon, peach, apple and pomegranate.

Chawn, Scottsdale
Read the case study →“Looking for help in designing a more resilient and productive back yard. I have a small stand of fruit trees that have been moderately successful, so there is hope for me.” Over 3,600 square feet of roof became the water supply for her orchards.

First United Methodist Church of Gilbert
Read the case study →Unused lawn costing thousands a year in water and maintenance, a trip hazard and a parking lot with almost no shade left, redesigned as a rainwater-fed landscape that is open to the public.
“Is this something my landscaper can do?”
Most likely not. Somehow the conventional landscaping industry grew into one of the largest in the country knowing almost nothing about soil and plant health. We do offer paid training for your landscaper, to upskill the community and scale the impact.
Questions people ask before the call
What does the design phase include?
The on-site consultation and design session, virtual design reviews, and the deliverables in your client portal: a 2D site plan with your watershed, a planting layout and an irrigation diagram where one applies, plus build estimates for every service. 3D renderings of specific spaces are an optional add-on. Pricing is quoted after the free consultation.
Do I have to hire you to build it?
No. The design is yours either way. Many people build some of it themselves with the planner and the client portal, and hire us for the parts that need a crew, like removals, gutters, earthworks and irrigation. The build estimates in your portal let you decide piece by piece.
Can you design for me if I am not in Phoenix?
Yes, if your climate is like the Sonoran Desert's. Design is mostly virtual: satellite imagery, your photos and video calls. On-site visits cover Arizona and the neighboring states, Southern California, New Mexico and southern Nevada, and farther for projects that cover the travel. Outside a desert climate we are the wrong designers for you, and we will say so on the free call.
What happens after the design is finished?
We help you budget, plan and manage the build, which often becomes several phases in a sensible order: removals and urgent drainage, tree care or irrigation needs first, then irrigation installs, upper canopy and fast-growing support trees, shade structures, hardscaping and gardens, passive rainwater harvesting (gutters and basins) and finally active harvesting (tanks and pumps). A deposit on the accepted estimate puts you on the schedule.
Is there financing?
We can connect you with options depending on what you qualify for: introductory-rate credit cards and pay-in-4 plans, home equity lines of credit with long terms, low or no down payment plans, and mortgage refinancing or add-ons through a broker. Community projects with a teaching or feeding mission can also apply for grant funding with us as fiscal sponsor.
