Permablitz
A food forest in a weekend, built by the people you know
Professional design, the materials and a certified lead. Your friends, family and neighbors do the work. Most of the result for a fraction of the cost of hiring a crew.
What a Permablitz is
One or two days of organized work that turns a yard into a food-bearing, pollinator garden. The design is professional, the labor is communal, and everyone leaves knowing how to do it again.

Dream it
We work closely with you to design your gardens and food forest, using the principles of permaculture at every step so the yard does the most it can with the water that falls on it.

Build it
You invite friends, family, neighbors and community volunteers for an epic one or two day work party. A certified Permascaping professional leads the day and the major work gets done.

Grow it
We stay involved afterward so the new food forest becomes as productive and as beautiful as it was drawn. Stewarding is a skill too, and it is the one your community takes home.
Small budget, big community
Rather than paying a full crew through our usual services, you can still get 80 percent of the work done with 20 percent of the budget.
- 20%of the budget of a crew-built installation
- 80%of the work done in the blitz
- 1 to 2 daysof organized, led work
- Freediscovery call to size the day with you
Your investment goes to the professional design, the materials themselves and a certified Permascaping professional leading everyone through the project. Budgeting for design and leadership means it is done right the first time, while you and your community learn permaculture design in real practice.
And on top of that, your community now has a skill set to bring to the next yard. The second blitz on a block is always easier than the first.
How to organize yours
Everything runs through your free Permascaping account, from the first sketch to the sign-up sheet.
Create your free account and property
Add your address and the app pulls in the parcel and aerial imagery. That property is where the plan, the event and the follow-up all live.
Plan the yard, or book a design
Use the planners yourself: planting, watershed and hard and softscapes. Or book a design and we draw it with you. Either way the blitz works from a real plan with real quantities.
Post your workday as a community event
From the portal, create the event and share the link with friends, family and neighbors. Make it public and the Permascaping volunteer list sees it too. Sign-ups show on the page so you know how many hands are coming.
We lead the day
A certified Permascaping professional arrives with the design, the tools and the materials, lays out the work, assigns the groups and keeps everyone safe and moving.
Steward it after
Watering, mulching and pruning in the first year decide whether the planting takes. We stay involved, and your property's plan keeps the schedule.

Questions
What does a Permablitz cost?
Roughly a fifth of what the same installation costs with a full crew. Your money goes to the design, the materials and a certified Permascaping professional leading the day, not to labor. The exact number depends on your yard, and we settle it with you before anything is scheduled.
What does the host provide?
The yard, the people and the hospitality. You invite friends, family and neighbors, and the Permascaping volunteer list fills in the rest. On the day, hosts usually cover water, shade and lunch for the crew. Tools and materials are part of the plan, so nobody has to bring their own shovel.
How many people does it take?
It depends on the scope. A front yard with a few basins and trees needs far fewer hands than a full food forest. When we plan the day with you we size the crew to the work, and the event page shows how many have signed up so you know where you stand before the weekend.
What does Permascaping bring?
A finished design, the materials list and the materials themselves, the tools, and a certified professional who lays out the work, assigns the groups and keeps the day safe and moving. Afterward we stay involved so the planting establishes the way the design intended.
